Everyday Moments Weekly Challenge

Everyday Moments Weekly Challenge

Wow, so many amazing images this week. My goal this year is to capture the tiny everyday moments, the ones that do not seem to really make an impact until years down the road. The tiny moments that you will miss dearly. Every one did such a lovely job capturing these precious moments

I wanted to add a little something that spoke to me this week, something that I needed to hear. Before I share my favorite 5 I wanted to share an image from one of our members Jenn. Jenn took this image and wrote the following:

To all my Mom friends out there struggling with how they are doing as a Mom... You are doing amazing, You are doing the best you can and that is all you can do. It is enough.

I needed to hear this today and maybe someone out there did too.. I wrote this 2 years ago, but it still has some meaning today.

"13|365 - As a photographer, I have been doing self portraits of being a mother for many years and as the years go on, I see this being more of my outcome.

No kids running at my feet - no stepping on legos or the bickering of whose turn it is. No questions of where something is because they can't find it. No more cuddling on the couch until they fall asleep to carry them upstairs. No more thinking of ways to get them to go to sleep at 7:30 because I want to spend 15 minutes in the bathroom without seeing fingers under the door like a scene in The Walking Dead.

My children are now 19, 17 and 15 and my mother role is now coming to the point where I am learning to slowly let go. I can remember when a part of my life I felt so overwhelmed as a Mother - a full time job, dishes, dinner, daycare, diapers, dogs and the laundry - you know your everyday superhero.

Now, when doing the laundry for them - I take in the little moments where I get to help and be Mom again. Taking that first self portrait of my 19 year old going off to Kindergarten I never thought I would be posting a picture of me doing his laundry as I send him off at life on his own.

My advice - when you have stepped on a lego for the 1648138 time, when you can't figure out what that smell is or when you are just so tired you can't take it anymore - snap a picture of that moment. Because you too, will one day be doing your child's laundry to send them off to spread their wings wishing they were pulling on your leg again. I promise."

Morgan Luff Braxton fell asleep tonight holding Colton’s hand and my heart could barely take it!! 💙 Sometimes it feels like the majority of my day is playing referee between these two and Im just a broken record playing the same phrases over and over... 🤦🏽‍♀️and boy it gets frustrating and it gets tiring!! But then there are sweet moments like these. Or when I see Braxton singing to his brother when he’s crying. Or finding a toy to give to Colton that will make him happy (without any prompt from mom or dad) Or when I hear the two of them laughing hysterically with each other in whatever new game they have discovered to play together. These are the moments I love so much. And want to remember forever!! 💙 I decided to include what Morgan wrote under her image because it spoke to the whole truth of missing these sweet, tiny moments.
